The Reality of Nashville: Coming Soon to a Television Near You

The television show Nashville, despite some sagging ratings this season, has shined a spotlight on its namesake city as the new hot tourist destination. So, of course, several other TV networks have decided to jump on that momentum – with six new reality shows depicting the Nashville area and its high-profile residents.

 

Thicker Than Water follows gospel jazz musician Ben Tankard and his family. Interestingly, this won’t take place in Nashville but in Murfreesboro, where they live in a three-story extravagant mansion. According to the man himself, this show will portray the area well – and who knows? Maybe tourists flying in to see Nashville will start making side trips to the ‘Boro.

Pinterest, really?

I just joined Pinterest because I felt internal pressure to participate in this odd phenomenon known as “pinning”.  I actually had to read the Wikipedia page so I could gain a basic understanding of Pinterest (yeah, I admit it).

 

Do you know what happened?  I totally didn’t get it.

 

It took me a week to grasp the idea of Pinterest as a repository of photos and collections of things people like.   My mom said it to me this way:  it’s an online version of all those magazines and recipes and samples in the corner of your bonus room that have been gathering dust because you haven’t figured out where to put them.  Ah. So it’s like online scrapbooking.  Ok, that gives me something to work with. It’s funny how social media can be difficult to described…

PARKS Gulch Location Celebrates Grand Opening

Yesterday, we celebrated the opening of our new PARKS location in the Gulch with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony and community wide open house. We were thrilled that Metro Councilwoman Erica Gilmore and representatives from the Nashville Downtown Partnership and Market Street Enterprises joined us for the ribbon cutting ceremony. It was also great to see hundreds of our friends, colleagues and new neighbors at the event.
